In the third and fourth years of the Energy Medicine Practitioner Program, each student is required to participate in an internship at one of our
many hospital sites in Connecticut, at any other existing sites, or at otherwise approved site in their geographical area.
Internship Requirements
Each student is required to participate on a bi-weekly basis for a three hour session. A minimum of 42 patient contact hours is needed to satisfy the requirement.
In addition, each student will present a minimum of three case conferences (3 hours total) and present a different patient / case each time. Feedback will be given to each student from their preceptor, as well as from his or her peers.
Students must be able to communicate effectively with patients, hospital staff, and their preceptor in a confidential manner, as well as family members when necessary.
Students doing an internship must carry liability insurance with limits of $1,000,000 / $3,000,000. Proof of the following immunizations is required and must be given to the IHAS internship coordinator prior to any patient contact:
- Rubella (measles)
- PPD (tuberculosis)
- Hepatitis B series (or waiver)
- Chicken Pox
- Mumps
- Additional immunizations may be required depending upon location.
Attendance is required at the orientation session at the location of your specific internship. At this orientation, required guidelines and protocols will be established.
