The W.I.S.E.™ Method

I began my work in private practice as a psychotherapist in the 1980s. After a period of time, although my clients were happy, I felt that something was missing. As a result, I studied advanced acupressure, iridology, reflexology, Reiki, breath work, hypnotherapy, Jin Shin Do and Consegrity. I also spent four years training with Barbara Brennan. Along the way, I developed a pattern of working that combined segments of every one of these modalities along with my traditional psychotherapeutic training. Because I use an integrative approach working with the whole person, emotionally, spiritually, physically and energetically, I call it The W.I.S.E.™ Method. It encompasses the wholistic, integrated, spiritual energies of the body.

The primary understanding of this work is that we are all embodied souls. We are intrinsically holy beings who live in our truth only when we are in integrity, and following our soul's longings. However, many of us unfortunately get caught up being who we are "supposed" to be rather than who we are and consequently, we repress any thoughts, feelings or emotions that may not fit the image we are wearing. Since each thought, feeling and emotion is, in actuality, an energetic reality, each of these moments of repression creates what can best be described as an energetic cyst in the body. They are actually a small energetic block, a thought, feeling or emotion which we hold deep within your system so that perhaps even we can deny its existence. At some point in time, when we have accumulated enough of these cysts, we begin to develop pain or symptoms in our bodies that physicians cannot find because they are still energetic. Eventually, they may become a physical problem if not released energetically.

The W.I.S.E. Method™ works to support you in releasing those energies that can weigh you down and cause you to survive rather than to live. It works with problems on any level of existence and at any stage. Patients with cancer, organic or systemic difficulties are all supported in healing with this method, which is why we are affiliated with five hospitals and over 40 clinics. We have learned that simply by moving the energies within the body, the healing begins to takes place, and that by coming to understand what belief systems may have helped support the development of the disorder, the ability to lessen the chance for a recurrence takes place. Fear, anger, abandonment, loneliness and other emotional problems can be helped at this time also and the body feels the difference in the release. Healing does not always include curing. Sometimes it is used to provide peace and resolution before passing, or to bring closure to an old wound that needs to be released. Sometimes it is simply to remember who you are.

Learning to recognize when your body is out of balance, when there are pockets of tightness or weakness, allows you to heal before the cost is too high, perhaps even before the problem is physical. Learning, as well, that all healing needs to reach the spiritual level (belief systems) for self-understanding, allows you to see this whole life journey as an adventure to be enjoyed and traveled, fully. Self-awareness is an exciting undertaking, which allows the healing to be done by you, with assistance, in an environment of love and support without judgment.

"At IHAS, my goal is to support students in becoming healers, not simply train students to do healings."
